AN IMPRESSIVE ILLUMINATED TIMURID QUR’AN, 16TH CENTURY, IRAN/CENTRAL ASIA

Arabic manuscript on polished paper, 13 lines of elegant black naskh script, verses separated with gold roundels with polychrome dots, sura headings in white thuluth, text outlined with gold, blue and black, all folios’ margins illuminated with gold floral decoration, marginal medallions in gold and polychrome, illuminated opening bifolio in gold and polychrome, 7 lines to the page, at the end three illuminated pages written in white ink outlined with black reserved on gold ground, with later master work leather binding.
