ANDRÉ AUCOC’S FIVE-PIECE SILVER AND VERMEIL SERVICE, EGYPT, EARLY 20TH CENTURY

Exquisite tea service, crafted by the renowned goldsmith André Aucoc, comprising five pieces, showcasing a harmonious blend of silver and vermeil, adorned with exquisite embellishments such as pinched ribs, delicate fluting, intricate leafy scrolls, and opulent acanthus motifs, each piece raised upon a contoured pedestal, consisting of a teapot, a coffee maker, a sugar bowl, a milk jug and a bowl, crafted by André Aucoc, whose establishment founded in Rue de la Paix in Paris between 1887 and 1911; the hallmark of Minerva, denoting a silver purity of 950 thousandths, Regency style, between 1887-1911; hallmark originally intended for export; bearing the distinctive mark of Mercuty at 800 thousandths and Egyptian hallmarks at 800 thousandths; presumably from Cairo, dating the year 1948-1949, coffee maker height 25cm, gross weight 3733grams

This set’s provenance traces back to the illustrious sales of the Royal Palaces of Egypt, commonly known as the King Farouk sales. These exceptional pieces once were in Sotheby’s catalogue in Cairo during the renowned auction held in March 1954.





TWO REMARKABLE SILVER OIL POTS, EGYPT, EARLY 20TH CENTURY
Exhibiting a sleek and unified design, the lid gently curved with a doucine profile, adorned with the word “poisson” in Arabic script, specifically Kufic style, crowned with the royal crown of Egypt – a symbol of regal distinction, a fretel in the form of a fully blossomed flower, set upon a lush, foliated terrace, featuring refrappé Minerva hallmarks, hailing from the early 20th century, likely during the reign of Farouk (1936-1952), standing at a height of 24.5cm with a diameter of 25cm, and boasting a weight of 2197grams, some restorations and polishing

A Silver oil pot adorned with intricate friezes of palmettes, rows of delicate pearls, and intertwined cable motifs, the lid featuring an elegant ombilic, serving as the perfect pedestal for a lush, leafy terrace, bearing the distinctive Ottoman hallmarks, including the tughra and sah marks, displaying the Egyptian hallmarks from Cairo, signifying a silver purity of 900 millièmes, and a hallmark from the year 1934-1935.

This set’s provenance traces back to the illustrious sales of the Royal Palaces of Egypt, commonly known as the King Farouk sales. These exceptional pieces once were in Sotheby’s catalogue in Cairo during the renowned auction held in March 1954.
