In 1879, Kargopoulo became the official photographer for the Ottoman Sultan. This prestigious title allowed him to advertise his services with the Sultan's royal tugra.
During his time as court photographer, Kargopoulo captured a remarkable collection of images showcasing the waning days of the glorious Ottoman Empire.
His diverse portfolio included prominent figures like military heroes, future sultans, religious leaders, and ordinary people. He also documented grand palace interiors, bustling street scenes, and impressive naval displays.
