DAMASCUS, 20TH CENTURY Of octagonal shape, resting on bracket feet, intricately inlaid with mother-of-pearl, ebony, stained wood and bone, the top showcasing a central starburst design formed from an eight pointed star, with scattered arabesque patterns and scrolling foliage, encircled with a band of calligraphy in Kufic, the edge adorned with geometric star patterns, the sides with rectangular panels, each showcasing geometric motifs interlacing and radiating to form a central six-pointed star, arched openings on the sides with scrolling foliage with spandrels, a fretwork band along the borders
