A MID TO LATE 19TH CENTURY OTTOMAN SILVER SPOON WARMER, CIRCA 1870
PROBABLY BEARING THE TUGHRA OF SULTAN ABDUL AZIZ (R. 1861–1876)
Of elegantly everted circular form, the bowl features a lobed and fluted rim, resting upon a finely cast gilt openwork base. The base is adorned with a lattice of nought-cross panels, interspersed with rosettes and flowerheads delicately secured by wire. The junction between the bowl and base is embellished with wrought floral motifs, including flowerheads and leaves on wire stems, showcasing exceptional craftsmanship.
Marked to the rim and foot rim with a tughra and sah mark, with an assay scrape underneath the foot.
