MUGHAL DECCAN BRONZE EWER OR AFTABA / AN INDIAN MUGHAL BRASS EWER AND COVER, NORTH INDIA, 19th CENTURY, The heavily cast ewer with finely engraved decoration, of pyriform form, supported by four feet, exhibiting an intricately cast body adorned with central tear-drop cartouches on each side, the surface embellished with etched floral motifs, resembling stylised poppies, the sinuous handle with a lotus bud, while the straight faceted sprout featuring a midrib, continuing the floral theme through similar engravings, the hinged lid crowned with a finial shaped like a budding flower.
