AN OTTOMAN SILVER ENAMELLED BELT, OTTOMAN BALKAN, 19TH CENTURY
The central section in the form of a trefoil by two further horizontal sections, all similarly enamelled in cobalt blue and green with a stylised double-headed eagle, vegetal decorations, with multicoloured gem insets, silver panels throughout the belt, hooks for fastening concealed on the reverse. Eagle was used as a symbol of Royal power during centuries.
