Two folios, Persian manuscript on very fine paper, 11ll. of black bold Turki nasta’liq script, arranged in two columns separated by a broad gilt intercolumnar line, double interlinear lines in black, heading in cartouches, text set within broad gilt and polychrome rules, mounted, text 17 x 8.5cm 25.2 x 20.5cm
This fine manuscript page dating c1750 is from the Diwan-i Nawai, a book of love lyrics by the 15th century poet Mir “Ali Shir Nawai” (d. 1501). It was rescued from a battered volume originating in Kashmir or North India.
