Arabic manuscript on paper, 12ll. of black naskh script to the page, text set within blue-ruled gold frame, re-margined in gold, gold rosettes outlined and pointed with blue marking the verses, folio 1b-2a bearing the text of Surah al-Fatiha and the first five verses of Surah Al-Baqara within cloud bands on a cream background, opening bifolio richly and predominantly illuminated in striking blue and gold, surah headings in white and red thuluth in cartridges decorated with gilt scrolling vines, illuminated marginal medallions marking “Juzz” and “Hezb”, marginal Persian tafsir notes and reminding words in black nastaliq script, numerous owners’ stamps, original brown leather binding with gilt stamped central medallions and outer border,
