THE
UNDERWOOD TRAVEL LIBRARY, PALESTINE,
This set comprises 83 numbered and captioned stereoscopic views, each featuring two similar images per card. Produced around 1900, these views are mounted on original thick grey mounts.
Underwood & Underwood, established in 1881 in Ottawa, Kansas, was the world’s largest publisher of stereoviews, with an annual production of 10 million views. By 1910, the company had expanded into news photography, leading to a reduction in stereograph production, which continued until the early years of World War I. Throughout its operation, Underwood & Underwood produced between 30,000 and 40,000 stereographic titles.
