AN EARLY 20TH CENTURY IRAQI SILVER AND NIELLO THREE-PIECE CRUET SET, OMARA, CIRCA 1930

Comprising a mustard pot, a salt cellar, and a pepper pot, each of square section with incurved corners, raised on four ball feet. The pepper pot is modelled as a minaret, topped with a gilt finial, and decorated with niello scenes including a mudhif, the Tomb of Ezra, dhow sailing boats, and a mashoof. The mustard pot is decorated with a caravan of camels, dhow sailing boats, and a boatman in a gufa, while the salt cellar features the Taq Kasra (Ruins of Ctesiphon), Al Takarta Mosque, and similar motifs.
