A LARGE IZNIK-STYLE CANTAGALLI POTTERY DISH FOR OTTOMAN MARKET, ITALY, LATE 19TH CENTURY
Of shallow round shape, resting on a short circular foot, rising to a gently everted rim, underglaze painted in cobalt blue, copper green, bole red against a white background, two sinuous hyacinth branches and two large carnations springing from a tuft of grass, the rim featuring a typical rock and wave motif, the exterior with a band of blue roundels and green leaves, base bears brand mark.
