ALBUM OF 74 PHOTOGRAPHS OF TURKEY (CONSTANTINOPLE), SYRIA AND PALESTINE, LATE 19TH CENTURY
This late 19th-century album contains 73 albumen prints showcasing Turkey, Syria, and Palestine. The photographs are organised into three sections, each with its own title page: Constantinople, Syria, and Palestine. The images capture a variety of subjects, including cityscapes, natural landscapes, interior and exterior views of monumental architecture, genre scenes, and portraits. While many of the photographs are unsigned, some bear the signatures of renowned photographers Félix Bonfils, Abdullah Frères, S.Hakim and Adelphoi Zangaki, mounted on card, both recto and verso, two folding prints, bounded in blue cloth, title embossed in gilt with initials E.R., some foxing, some water damage, covers faded, spine fraying and some photographs have faded, a manuscript index in a contemporary hand is loosely inserted
